ISLAMABAD (News from Dunya) Monday (tomorrow) will mark the start of the nationwide anti-polio campaign, which will have varying durations. More than 45 million children under five would receive anti-polio drops during the campaign. The program was launched in Islamabad by Ayesha Raza Farooq, the Prime Minister’s Focal Person for Polio Eradication. Speaking at the event, she declared that it is our national responsibility and duty to eradicate polio. She expressed her sincere gratitude to the 225,000 female vaccinators and the 400,000 frontline employees spearheading this initiative. See Also: Report on Families Refusing to Vaccinate Against Polio Earlier, the country’s northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province reported two additional cases of the wild poliovirus, increasing the total number of 2025 cases to 10. Two new cases of wild poliovirus have been verified in District Lakki Marwat and District Bannu by the National Institute of Health’s Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication. In 2025, there were 10 confirmed cases of polio in Pakistan, with five coming from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, four from Sindh, and one from Punjab. Concerned about the increasing number of poliovirus cases coming out of Sindh, Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal ordered authorities to provide a thorough report on the number of households who are refusing to vaccinate their children.
