Shangla (KPK) – In a tragic incident in Shangla district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, three girls were swept away by the fast-flowing River Indus while collecting water. One girl was rescued, while the search continues for the remaining two.

According to Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Usman Munir, the young girls had gone to the river to collect water when the strong current dragged them away. Locals present at the riverside managed to rescue one girl.
🧭 Rescue Efforts Underway
Rescue 1122 teams launched an operation, but the fast current has made it difficult to locate the missing individuals.
🏞️ Lack of Rescue Facilities
Local activist Ibadullah Khan revealed that the area lacks a permanent Rescue 1122 post and residents rely on the river for drinking water due to no alternative source. He added that “such incidents are common due to lack of facilities.”

This incident follows a similar tragedy in Attock, Punjab, where a seven-seater van fell into a rain drain, resulting in four deaths and one child missing.
