Another Tourist Family Goes Missing; 7 Bodies Recovered from Babusar Road

In a tragic development from Gilgit-Baltistan, another tourist family has gone missing, prompting their relatives to seek help from authorities.

According to Diamer Deputy Commissioner (DC), K2 TV anchor Shabana Liaqat, along with her husband and four children, is missing. Search efforts are currently underway.

Eyewitnesses reported that 10 to 15 people were swept away by flash floods on Babusar Road. So far, 7 bodies have been recovered from the area.

Rescue teams, aided by sniffer dogs and drones, are continuing the search for the remaining missing individuals. The DC of Diamer visited Thak Nala to oversee rescue operations and conducted a drone survey to assess the damage.

Commissioner of Diamer-Astore Division, Khurshid Alam, also visited Thor to inspect the losses. Meanwhile, the Federal Secretary for Communications has instructed authorities to reopen the road by tomorrow.

The search operation continues in Chilas, Thak, and Babusar for the missing tourists. Relief efforts are also underway, with 84 tents, 84 kitchen sets, 10 food packets, and 10 quilts distributed among affected families.
