Honeytrap over Marriage Proposal: Karachi Man Kidnapped, Rs 5 Million Ransom Demanded

Marriage Proposal Turns Into Trap

Mohammad Shoaib, a resident of the Jackson area in Karachi, had posted a “marriage needed” advertisement on social media. Shortly after, he received a call from an unknown woman who expressed willingness to marry him.

The woman claimed to be from a poor family, said she couldn’t offer dowry, but promised to take care of Shoaib and his entire household if he agreed to marry her.

The Kidnapping

Trusting her words, Shoaib traveled to Ghotki. During the journey, the woman instructed him over a phone call to get off at Obaro Station, a city near Ghotki. As soon as he got off the train, armed bandits kidnapped him.

According to Shoaib, the kidnappers demanded Rs 5 million for his safe release.

Police Action and Rescue

The incident was immediately reported, prompting a joint operation by AVCC, CPLC, and Ghotki Police. The combined forces successfully located and rescued Shoaib.

Police officials confirmed that the victim had been safely recovered and said further investigations are underway to arrest the kidnappers involved in this honeytrap-kidnapping network.
