Government Decides to Release Entire 15% Development Funds for First Quarter of Fiscal Year

The government has decided to release the entire 15% of the federal development funds allocated for the first quarter (July–September 2025) of the current fiscal year in one go.

According to Dawn News, sources confirm that over Rs. 141 billion in development funds have been approved for disbursement during this period.

The Ministry of Planning has granted upfront one-liner authorization for fund release, and this approval has been forwarded to all relevant ministries and divisions.

Earlier this month, the Ministry of Finance devised a strategy for issuing the federal development budget. Under this strategy:

  • 15% of the development budget is to be released in the first quarter,

  • 20% in the second quarter,

  • 25% in the third quarter, and

  • 40% in the fourth quarter of the fiscal year.

It is also confirmed that funds will not be released directly through the State Bank. Instead, a pre-audit will be conducted for all federal development projects before disbursement.
